Department Mission
The mission of the Pratt County Emergency Management office is to
- Facilitate the speedy recovery of Pratt County in the mid and long-term intervals following a disaster
- Maintain a high level of preparedness
- Mitigate loss of life and vital assets prior to, during, and the immediate aftermath of a disaster
- Protect the citizens of Pratt County
Function of the Department
It is the function of the Pratt County Emergency Management office to coordinate emergency response activities with various agencies at all levels of government. This includes volunteer and civic organizations, local businesses, educational institutions and other response agencies when emergencies or disasters happen within the county.
The act of coordination is not only during the response phase of a disaster, but through the planning, preparedness, and mitigation phases as well.
Emergency Preparedness
While local response agencies have plans in place to respond to a disaster or emergency, it is just as important for individuals, families, and businesses to have emergency plans in place as well. Disasters can happen anytime and anywhere. When a disaster strikes, you may not have much time to prepare or respond.
In a large-scale disaster, local officials and relief workers will not be able to reach everyone immediately. Help could come in hours, or it may take days. Make sure your family or business is ready.
