COVID-19 Appraiser's Office Operational Changes

Pratt County Appraiser’s Office Operational Changes in Response to COVID-19

3/13/2020

IN-PERSON Informal or Payment Under Protest Appeals:

We are reaching out to you today because you filed an IN-PERSON 2020 Informal appeal and/or a prior year Payment Under Protest appeal, as we are currently unable to accommodate that request.

As global and local concerns about the current COVID-19 outbreak grows, we are not only doing our best to keep everyone healthy and safe in the workplace, while also maintaining our day-to-day operations, but also taking proactive measures to contain the spread of the virus.

We have several options that you may choose from at this time.

We will schedule your hearing as a PHONE hearing when we begin to set up appointments for hearings. We will send a confirmation letter detailing the date and time of hearing.  We will call you and hold the hearing over the phone.  If you were planning to bring or provide evidence, here are the following options:  send it by mail, email, or fax, prior to hearing date.

We have attached the property record card and comparable sales report for your information to have at the time of your hearing.

If you are unable to do a phone hearing and really feel that an IN-PERSON hearing is necessary, we can reschedule at a later date – possibly towards the end of April or early May depending on the status of the Coronavirus and the current state of emergencies in place at that time.  If IN-PERSON is preferred, then our staff will be reaching out to you in the near future to reschedule your hearing.

Per Kansas statute (KSA 79-1460), all hearings must be held by May 15th.  Should we still be under a State of Emergency in Kansas or Pratt County near the deadline of May 15th, all hearings may require a hearing by phone, or you may choose to cancel your hearing at this time and file a Payment Under Protest when your 2020 taxes come due on December 20th, 2020.

We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time.
